Matt Keelen formed The Keelen Group in November 2007 after serving for two years as President of Valis & Keelen, LLC. During his tenure at Valis & Keelen, LLC the company experienced unprecedented growth. Prior to Valis & Keelen, LLC, he was president of Keelen Communications, a political consulting firm located in Alexandria, Va. Keelen established Keelen Communications in December 1997 because he saw a void in the services being provided to congressional candidates and political organizations in Washington, D.C.

During his tenure at Valis & Keelen, LLC, Matt expanded the range of clients to include the medical and labor communities. While expanding the client base, Keelen concurrently worked with existing clients to deliver insightful political counsel and long-term strategic planning.

He received a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Loyola College in Maryland and a master’s degree in political management from The George Washington University. He has lectured at the following schools and organizations: Graduate School of Political Management at The George Washington University, American University, Loyola College, Credit Union National Association, National Education Association, National Republican Congressional Committee, Independent Electrical Contractors, the National Association of Convenience Stores, and others.

Keelen has appeared on or in The New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Fox News, MSNBC, CNN “The John Gibson Show,” The Hill, Roll Call, “The Rush Limbaugh Show,” “The Cal Thomas Show” and “America’s Voice” as well as numerous political radio shows. He was named a “Rising Star of Politics” by Campaigns and Elections magazine in 2000, and he was profiled as a “Mover and Shaker” by Campaigns and Elections in 2001. The Hill named Matt one of the top 50 lobbyists in Washington, DC in 2006 and 2007.

Matt is also an adjunct professor at the George Washington Univeristy, teaching graduate level courses for GWU's School of Political Management (GSPM). He was recently awarded as GSPM's, 'Alumni of the Year' for 2007.

A native of Ocean Township, N.J., Keelen resides in Arlington, Va., with his wife Jennifer, and daughters Riley and Madison.
